Torre Archirafi is a seaside village in the town of Riposto, in province of Catania, developed around an 18th-century church and a noble palace on the sea.〔() Turismo nautico e distretti turistici siciliani, by AA. VV.〕 Giovanni Natoli Ruffo, Prince of Sperlinga on May 24, 1741 was appointed Duke of Archirafi by King Charles III of Spain. Prince Natoli Ruffo e Alifia, built the present church and the palace, and restored in 1762, the famous and ancient watchtower tower that gave the name to the village and that today no longer exists, perhaps destroyed by a storm. A white stone plaque with the following Charles of Bourbon inscription remembers this: ''"D.O.M. Ferdinando Utriusque Sic. Rege Pio, Felici, Invicto. Joannes Natolius Rufus de Alifia Princeps Sperlinga, Dux Archiraphis Reg. a Cons. Urbic. Legion. Messanae Praefectus Antiquissimam Turrim Archiraphim Aetate ac Maris impetu collapsam, Ne pago aucto Colonis frequentato Ducatus honore nobili, Quae dederat nomen deficeret, In meliorem tutioremque locum Readificandam curavit. 1762."'' The Duc d'Archirafi died without heirs in Messina in 1769. ==References==
